Personal trainer Wini Linguvic has come up with a six-week program that fits weight-training routines into just 12-minutes a day, four days a week — and it promises to get you the results all women want — a long, lean and strong body.

The secret to Linguvic's program is that it takes rock-solid exercises to build muscle and combines them with stretching to lengthen. You don't need a whole bunch of different exercises every day — you just need the right ones. (You'll also need weights, an exercise ball and a mat.) Combined wisely with 20 minutes of cardio 3 days a week, this is a fitness program that's easy to stick with. Linguvic's nutrition program is just as easy to follow. There's nothing complicated, just sensible eating, healthy carbs, whole foods and lots of water. In addition to clear instructions and photographs, Linguvic also takes the time to debunk various myths (yes, some women are still afraid that weights will make them bulk up), and offers reality checks (just how many calories are in that coffee drink anyway?).

Linguvic has one more weapon in her arsenal, and this is the one that will actually give you the results you want: she is very big on keeping workout logs and food journals. Unless you see in writing what you are doing and keep track of the progress — or lack thereof — you are really going at a fitness program blindly. The importance of food and workout logs can't be emphasized enough, and Linguvic explains how to make the most of them. That alone makes this book worthwhile!

Lean, Long & Strong is a great start for a beginning exerciser, and intermediates who are pressed for time will be able to kick their program back into gear. It gives busy women the type of fitness routine that just about anyone can fit into their schedule — and as Linguvic likes to say, "the days you can't find 12 minutes to do something positive for yourself are the days you deserve it the most."
