Getting in the Gap:
Making Conscious Contact with God Through Meditation by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
2003
Getting in the Gap is actually the perfect introduction to quieting the mind for most Westerners: not only does it slow down the thought process, it offers a connection to God (whatever that means for you), and it can be goal-oriented, if you want that. It's meditation for people who have a life they don't want to abandon, and who want to enjoy the material world, not relinquish it. There's certainly nothing wrong with that; in fact there's everything right with this concept. Most Westerners are not searching for enlightenment or even Samadhi. They just want to get through their day with some sort of serenity and peace. Dyer's book shows a very nice way of achieving that. And if more people were to practice any form of simple meditation, such as the one Dyer presents in this book, they would spread their sense of peace to those around them and the world would be a more pleasant place to inhabit. That's why Getting in the Gap is a small gem, a great gift for anyone with a hectic lifestyle (that means you, too). Those who are searching out serious meditation techniques are welcome to look elsewhere. Other books you may like:
