Six 10-minute, targeted Pilates workouts, plus a 15-minute full-body "Pilates Challenge" workout. You can mix and match the workouts as you desire. Denise Austin instructs.
Who is it for?
Advanced beginning through intermediate Pilates enthusiasts. For the most part, these are not basic or easy workouts — you should be familiar with Pilates form and you also should already have a bit of strength. The only equipment you will need is a mat.
What to expect:
Who ever said that you can't get a good workout lying down? Several segments of Denise Austin's Hit the Spot Pilates are actually quite tough! Five out of the 6 10-minute segments are for advanced beginner to intermediate level Pilates enthusiasts. Austin offers up some basic instruction in the first 10-minute abs segment; after that you'd better be familiar with Pilates form because while her cueing is pretty good, you'll lag behind if you're not sure of what you are doing. The first three 10-minute segments target the abdominal region and the second three 10-minute segments target the thighs, hips and buttocks. These intense segments will get you results, if you practice them regularly (in fact, don't be surprised if you are sore after the first time you do them — especially if you choose to do several segments in one session). The 15-minute full-body "Pilates Challenge" is a standing Pilates routine that requires no equipment. It's not that easy, but some of the floorwork is actually tougher. One of the nicest aspects of this DVD is its mix-and-match capabilities. You can do just one of the workouts, or you can combine several of them for one longer session. You can even program all 7 workouts if you want (if you are very fit and slightly mad). Hit the Spot Pilates makes it easy to fit a good, targeted Pilates session into anybody's schedule.
