Upper Body Yoga for Beginners

What is it?
A 20-minute Yoga routine from Rodney Yee that focuses on backbends and upper body strength.
Who is it for?
This video works best if you want to improve on your upper body strength and flexibility - it may be too challenging at first for those with weak upper bodies. Some poses require a rolled-up blanket.
What to expect:
Like many of Rodney Yee's Yoga videos, this is not a tape for beginners, no matter what the box says. Most of the moves are fast-paced, and the only poses that are held (generally some sort of back bend or a push up position) may be challenging for a lot of people. That said, if you consider yourself an advanced beginner or intermediate Yoga enthusiast, and if you already have some upper body strength, this video can help bring your practice to the next level. The routine itself is only 16 minutes long (the last four minutes consist of a relaxation), but it's compact and powerful. Expect to do a lot of back bending, including Wheel or Upward Bow. As always, Yee's instruction is eloquent, both verbally and physically. This is also one of the most beautiful locations in the GAIAM series - it's shot on a hill in Maui that's so breathtaking it hardly looks real. This is an excellent, quick routine for the experienced, and something that beginning Yoga practitioners can look forward to practicing a little farther on down the road.
