Yoga Conditioning for Athletes
(GAIAM)
2000
What is it?
An hour-long Yoga routine especially geared for athletes. Who is it for? As the title implies, athletes, but it's really a good video for most people who practice Yoga on a fairly regular basis. You will need a strap and a chair. It's not an extremely challenging routine, but a well-rounded one. What to expect: Instructor Rodney Yee has created his most accessible video yet. Those who shy away from Yoga's spiritual side will find this an incredible stretch video. Those who practice Yoga frequently will find a solid routine that covers all the bases, from twists to standing poses to lunges and backbends. Many elite athletes know that Yoga enhances balance, lessens the possibility of injury and, of course, increases flexibility. Yee brings this knowledge to all you sporty types and offers two variations - one for those who are less flexible and one for those who need to build strength. He covers the classic poses - Triangle, Tree, the Warrior poses and the like - and talks you through it mindfully. True athleticism depends on a strong mind-body connection; this video encourages that while stretching and strengthening. Shot outdoors on the island of Maui, it wraps up with a nice, five-minute Shavasana (Relaxation Pose to you non-Yogis). As with most Rodney Yee videos, this one is highly recommended - whether you consider yourself an athlete or not. To Order Yoga Conditioning for Athletes on Video Check out more Rodney Yee on DVD:
